Curriculum Outlines for the B.S.E.T. Degree

Note: Freshman admits and students transferring without a completed AAS from a community or technical college complete the Four Year Curriculum.

Note: Students matriculating with an AAS from a community or technical college complete the 2 + 2 Curriculum only.

NOTES REGARDING CURRICULUM OUTLINES

1.

A transfer student holding an AAS who has previously taken a college-level course in general chemistry shall substitute for this requirement another course in chemistry, physics, biology or earth science as shown in the table below.

CHEM 1251
1 semesters of physics
1 semester of chemistry
PHYS 1102 with Lab (or Geol 1200 for Civil ET)
2 semesters of physics with lab
1 semester of chemistry
(Geol 1200) or
(BIOL 1101 or PHYS 1130)
   
2. Graduates are required to satisfy the UNC Charlotte general education requirements as stated in the Catalog. The student's faculty adviser will assist the student in meeting those requirements.  Requirements that have been met by course work transferred from a two-year college or other college will be identified.  Transfer students are responsible for taking courses at UNC Charlotte to satisfy the remainder of the requirements.
   
3. Directed electives are utilized to meet Departmental requirements for liberal education.  Major elective courses must be upper division courses offered by the College of Engineering or courses related to the student's field of specialization and approved by the department as major electives. Major electives are to be selected from a list maintained in the department based on: the student's interests, courses already completed as part of the AAS Degree if applicable, and a plan of study developed with an ET Department advisor.
