Students,
not advisors, are responsible for seeing that the requirements
for graduation are met. The university
catalog should provide effective notice for what needs
to be done. Any unusual situations or understandings should
be documented in the students departmental file. The Office of the Registrar and ET
program descriptions should also be consulted for information
pertaining to graduation requirements. Students are responsible
for understanding the content of all three documents.
This document is intended to address
some of the more frequent questions asked by students. However,
this document does not have authority. Any conflict between
this document and the college catalog are superceded by
that catalog.
A. Your AAS degree entitles you to
64 transfer credits, the maximum allowed.
A. Any course with a grade of C or
better will transfer, if it has not been counted toward
your AAS Degree. Therefore, no requests for transfer credit
will be considered until a final transcript is on file.
A. Once you receive your AAS Degree
all of your UNC Charlotte courses will be treated like
transfer credit. That is, only grades of C or better will
transfer, and those grades will not count towards the
student's GPA.
A. Yes, all students in the Engineering technology Program are required
to take this algebra test regardless of transfer credit. See the Math
Department's website for more information, http://www.math.uncc.edu/placement/. There is a practice test available at that website as well.
A. The ET Department
math placement test is a caculus test. If you have not taken any
calculus prior to enrolling at UNC Charlotte, then the University Math
Placement Test will determine your first math course.
All students who wish to
try and place out of MATH 1121 (the ET department's Calculus I course)
must take the ET Department math placement test unless you have
completed MATH 1241 and MATH 1242 or equivelent courses at another
institution and earned a C or better in both courses. You must also
pass the University Math Placement Test (algebra) with a score of 18 or
higher in order to take MATH 1121 (caclulus) at UNC Charlotte.
A. YES, if the course is
a required course at the sophomore level. All required courses in the
freshman year must be completed with a "C" of better. Some additional
courses require a "C" or better as well. Your advisor can give you more
information on courses in your chosen major that require a "C" or
better.
A. If immediate reinstatement
is desired by the student, 1) A request for reinstatement
must be sent to the registrar by the student explaining
the reasons for the unsatisfactory performance and why
these conditions no longer exist, 2) The student must
make an appointment for an interview with the department
chairman, 3) The department chairman, within one week
after the interview, will notify the student of the decision
for or against reinstatement.
-
Meet with advisor to see what
schedule changes are warranted.
-
Meet with the department chairman
(by appointment, please) to discuss options and have
the HOLD lifted from computer. If this is not done you
will be effectively suspended.
-
The student must then process
any schedule changes.
A. A list of approved electives is
available for each program.
Students must apply for graduation early
in the semester prior to the semester in which he/she
plans to graduate. The following
requirements must be verified:
-
Verify AAS Degree on two year transcript
if transfer student
-
Use check sheet to see all ET Department
major requirements have been met.
-
Verify that all departmental / general
education requirements have been met.
-
Verify 2.00 GPA in the Major.
-
Verify that all incoming deficiencies
(if any)
have been cleared up by courses taken in addition to
those taken to satisfy UNC Charlotte requirements.
-
Verify 2.00
GPA overall, and minimum number of credit hours for
the BSET degree.
