General Information
The Fire Safety Engineering Technology
program at UNC Charlotte has been participating in various research
activities since the programs inception in 1999. The diverse faculty pursues area of research that are of interest to them as well as collaborating in projects to advance the fields of fire and safety. Research has been completed or is currently in progress for various entities including: The office of Naval Research, National Institute of Standards and Technology, The Warren Group, and Wellman Inc.
Laboratory Facilities
A state-of-the art fire research laboratory is provides
a unique opportunity for cutting-edge
material flammability research. An
extensive list of available fire test
equipment includes a Cone calorimeter
(ASTM E 1354), an intermediate-scale
calorimeter (ASTM E 1623), and a
room/corner test (ISO 9705). The laboratory
is located on the training grounds of the Charlotte Fire
Department Training Academy.
