Do I need to meet with an advisor before applying to discuss my previous work and how my credits will transfer?

I have been in the fire department for XX years, I am certified as XXXXXX  and have over XXX hours training, what classes will this substitute for?

I have not quite finished my associate degree, can I be admitted early and start taking classes?

I have an associate degree in a discipline other than fire, can I enter the program?

I have a bachelors degree in another discipline, can I enter the program?

Do I need to meet with an advisor before applying to discuss my previous work and how my credits will transfer? No, when you apply your transcripts will be evaluated by the admissions office. Once you have been admitted, you will receive a letter detailing your deficiencies, if any. You will also be notified of a date for SOAR, which is a day of orientation. During SOAR you will have a general advising session with an advisor. Once you begin your classes, each semester you will meet with and advisor before registering.

I have not quite finished my associate degree, can I be admitted early and start taking classes? Yes, however it is usually better to wait until you complete your degree. The paper work is a mess.

I am almost finished with my associate degree, when should I apply? You should apply when you have one more semester left to complete in your associate degree.

I have an associate degree in a discipline other than fire, can I enter the program? Yes, you need to complete the following core courses listed. Then you will follow the + 2 program plan.

I have a bachelors degree in another discipline, can I enter the program? Yes, you need to complete core courses listed before enrolling in any upper division fire course. Students then must complete all major classes to obtain the degree.
